A unique environment
Our accommodation is located in the Guadalquivir Valley, in the Sierra de Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas Natural Park, within easy reach of some of its most popular sights, such as the Cerrada de Utrero gorge, the River Borosa, the Torre del Vinagre Visitor Centre and the Wildlife Park. El Cantalar is set in Mediterranean woodland, typically of Holm Oak and strawberry trees, and surrounded by spectacular craggy limestone mountains, in an enclave of great scenic beauty. From here you can enjoy views of the Puerto de las Palomas (Palomas Pass), soaring vultures or contemplate the impressive views over the Guadalquivir valley from the Tranco de la Carrasca lookout. Walk beside the cristalline waters of the Guadaquivir or discover the waterfall by the nearby Minas de Collado Verde, – and there´s no need to use the car!
These mountains offer a huge variety of opportunities for walking or hiking. You can enjoy one of our guided themed walks to discover more about the raptors, birdlife, wildlife, botany, fungi or geology of the area, or for the more adventurous, follow a mountain bike trail, go horse riding, climbing, canyoning ….
Cazorla is not just nature, you´ll also find culture and history. There are castles, historic buildings and villages with charming narrow streets, where you can wander and lose track of time. Throughout the year, there are many fairs and festivities as each village clebrates its own Saint´s day, and cultural events, such as the Cazorla International Blues Festival in July, the Festival of the Air and Cazorla Theatre Festival in the autumn.
